Hi all you wonderful homeschoolers! I am so honored that you selected EVERY SOUL A STAR for the first annual award. Thank you!! I loved writing this book, and my hope with it was to open readers’ minds about the different ways we learn things—from books, from our families, from nature and the world around us, and from each other.

I love the fact that Ally and her brother were encouraged to explore the topics that fascinate them, at their own pace, where in a regular school environment they wouldn’t have been able to do that. And I know they will take that hunger for knowledge with them where ever they wind up.

I learned a lot about astronomy while writing the book, and another goal of mine was to encourage young readers to look up at night, to think about the vast beauty of outer space and our unique place in it. I’ll see you all at the next eclipse, right? ;o)
